Con Cora and UNICEF led the “Latidos Violeta” gathering to strengthen the leadership of girls and adolescents in Catatumbo

Ocaña, Colombia

As part of the project that Fundación Con Cora carries out in the territory in partnership with UNICEF Colombia, the gathering “Latidos Violeta: Together We Transform Our Story” was held— a two-day experience that brought together girls and adolescents from different areas of Catatumbo who are part of the ‘Parches Violeta’ initiative.

This initiative aimed to strengthen support networks among girls and adolescents, promote mental health care, and foster female leadership from an early age, while recognizing the social and structural challenges they face in their contexts. Through safe spaces for conversation, active listening, and collective creation, participants reflected on autonomy, self-care, violence prevention, and the role they can play as agents of change in their communities, while also taking part in creative workshops.

During the gathering, open dialogues were encouraged, allowing participants to share personal experiences, identify common concerns, and develop proposals aimed at transforming the lives of women and girls in the region. “Latidos Violeta” became a space where young voices took center stage, reaffirming the importance of supporting processes that strengthen confidence, self-esteem, and collective leadership.

The partnership with UNICEF and the coordinated work with territorial initiatives such as “Parches Violeta” demonstrate the importance of joining efforts to build safer, more equitable, and protective environments for girls and adolescents in Catatumbo.
