Medellín, a Blank Canvas for Women: Con Cora Joins the Medellín Street Art Festival 2025

Ubication: Medellín, Colombia
Date: February 10-17, 2023

In recent decades, Medellín has undergone an incredible transformation, and urban art has played a fundamental role in this process of renewal. Neighborhoods like Comuna 13 have become symbols of change, with murals telling stories of resistance, hope, and social evolution. These murals not only beautify the landscape but also serve as a visual testament to the power of art as a tool for transformation.

In this context, Con Cora Foundation joins the Medellín Street Art Festival 2025 with a clear mission: to highlight and promote the work of women artists in the urban art scene. Since its inception in the early 2010s, the festival has become a pivotal event in the city’s culture—a meeting point for local and international artists who, through muralism and street art, share their worldviews. In this edition, Con Cora underscores the essential role of women in urban artistic creation, giving them a central place in a space that has historically been male-dominated.

Ela Rincón (@elar), a visual artist and muralist from Bogotá, will be one of the leading representatives of female art in this edition. Deeply connected to the feminine lineage, Ela’s work touches on themes of ancestral memory, historical struggles, and the territories that shape diverse women. Her murals pay homage to the cultures that influence female identity, exploring the power of heritage and the resilience of women throughout history.
